August catch up

I can only learn and move on……I’ve always disliked it when people don’t keep up with a regular blog, and here I am with a thousand excuses for my long absence from this page. There are no good reasons, so I’ll pass over that and try and make up for it with a few reflections and a bit of insight into what gives me joy. Finishing with some “how to keep cool” insights!

I think everyone who knows me, Jesse the Lurcher is one of the most vital sources of my happiness! We’ve had to adjust the times of his regular walk due to the current heat wave, and instead of the minimum four times a day, it’s down to once in the early early morning while it’s lovely and cool, and as late as possible in the evening. The last one at night is the regular brief one. Here he is, sampling smells of goodness knows what!

Sitting outside in the garden has been another splendid distraction. Why can I watch the bees on the lavender for hours on end? I find it totally absorbing, and provokes many questions that I should send to a beekeeper! When do they decide they’ve done enough? How come they all seem to cooperate with each other so amicably? Where do they go with all their gathered pollen?

So, with these higher temperatures I reckon the last thing you want to do is wear a silk scarf! And what’s the best thing you could I’ll be doing? Yep, wearing a silk scarf!

You don’t have to take it from me. All the facts are our there when you Google, but to save you the time here’s a quick list to help you see the sense of wearing a silk scarf in hot weather!

  1. Breathability. It’s a lightweight fabric which breaths with your skin, reducing the risk of overheating.

  2. Silk can regulate your body temperature. Sounds contradictory, but it will help you feel cool in hot temperatures and warm in the cold. Silks a fine fabric, but an excellent insulator.

  3. Would you believe it prevents effects of aging! Unlike cotton, silk will not absorb as much moisture from your skin. No dry skin!

  4. Silk is hypoallergenic and so, ideal for sensitive skin. No irritations, no allergies.

Are you convinced? I think there are enough facts for one day.here’s the proof of it cooling you down!

Do leave a comment or one of your own tips on keeping cool!

And, please never give dogs ice cubes - their metabolism isn’t like ours and they cannot adjust quickly enough to the sudden difference in temperature. It can be fatal, so resist!
