Giclée print of needlepoint tapestry - flowers. The tapestry image is enlarged to approximately 40 x 40 cms with about 3cms unworked canvas selvedge. This gives you the option to mount flush to the tapestry image, or to allow the selvedge to show.

The original design for this needlepoint was a silk painting for a large crepe de chine silk scarf - TLLS-005. The black gutta was applied first, and then the shapes were filled in with the brilliant dyes. Translating this design to needle and thread removed the dynamism of the design, but the essence of the fun of blocks of colour, large and small is retained and it becomes very sensitive and delicate composition.

I used petit point stitch on 12 to the inch mono canvas, using six stranded cotton. The canvas is still slightly visible, which is a conscious intention because, knowing the artwork would be considerably enlarged, I wanted to pass on, visually, the message of how it was made.
